exhibition
from 14th to 18th May

a collection of Japanese baskets selected by Makiko McDonald,
who has gathered the work of Japanese artisans for over twenty years.

Each basket is woven by hand using indigenous plants. The making process begins with foraging
for branches or bark in the forest and mountains. The delicate woven patterns are both beautiful and functional. These are baskets for farmers, fishermen and foragers, deeply connected to the land where they are made.

Makiko McDonald was born in Osaka, Japan. She started exhibiting Japanese craft pieces
in 2022 and currently lives and works in London.
